Wales „Street Football Wales“
Seit über 12 Jahren setzt sich die Organisation Street Football Wales für die soziale Eingliederung von Obdachlosen, Süchtigen oder aus dem Gefängnis Entlassene ein. Mit wöchentlichen Trainings, vierteljährlichen lokalen Turnieren und Freundschaftsspielen mit anderen Vereinen bietet die Organisation ein breites Programm für Menschen, die von der Gesellschaft abgelehnt werden. Der Fussball soll ihnen ein unterstützendes und vorurteilsfreies Umfeld bieten und ihnen einen Weg zur Verbesserung ihrer Situation eröffnen.
Die Organisation ist stolz auf die Teilnahme ihres Frauenteams an der Women’s Streetfootball EURO 2025: «Das wird ein eventreicher und intensiver Sommer mit unseren Spielerinnen!», freut sich Caitlin Thomas von der Abteilung für die Entwicklung des Fussballs bei Street Football Wales. Als Vorbereitung auf die Streetfootball Euro schreiben die Teilnehmerinnen ihre eigenen «Journey Journals», eine Art Tagebuch, in welchem sie ihre Erfahrungen, neue Learnings und tolle Momente, aber auch ihre Herausforderungen festhalten können. Ausserdem konnten die Frauen ein Training des walisischen Frauen-Nationalteams besuchen und sich mit den Spielerinnen austauschen.
Street Football Wales wird bei der Verwirklichung seiner Ziele von verschiedenen nationalen Botschaftern unterstützt, die wichtige Persönlichkeiten im walisischen Fussball sind: Ashley Williams (Verteidiger von Swansea City), Nationalspieler Loren Dykes, Ash Randall (Profifussball-Freestyler) und Cheryl Foster (Rekordtorschützin von Wales).
For over 12 years, Street Football Wales has been committed to the social inclusion of people experiencing homelessness, addiction, or reintegration after imprisonment.
Through weekly training sessions, quarterly local tournaments, and friendly matches with other clubs, the organization offers a wide-ranging program for individuals who have been pushed to the margins of society. Football provides them with a supportive and non-judgmental environment – and opens up a path toward improving their circumstances.
The organization is especially proud of its women’s team participating in the Women’s Streetfootball EURO 2025. “It’s going to be a summer full of events and emotions with our players!” says Caitlin Thomas, from the Football Development Department at Street Football Wales.
As part of their preparation for the Streetfootball EURO, participants are writing their own “Journey Journals” – personal diaries in which they reflect on their experiences, new learnings, special moments, and also the challenges they face.
In addition, the women had the opportunity to attend a training session of the Welsh Women’s National Team and exchange with the players.
Street Football Wales is supported in its mission by several national ambassadors – key figures in Welsh football:
Ashley Williams (defender for Swansea City and Wales international),
Loren Dykes (Bristol Academy and Wales international),
Ash Randall (professional football freestyler and 17-time Guinness World Record holder), and
Cheryl Foster (Wales‘ most capped player and record goal scorer).
